US Futures, European Stocks Mixed Ahead of Central Bank Meetings

In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 was flat in morning trading. Orpea rose 15.2% and Polymetal International climbed 12%. On the other hand, Idorsia lost 15.9%, and Dassault Systemes lost 4.9%. The FTSE 100 added 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 was flat and Germany’s DAX dropped 0.1%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.2% to 95.84.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.2% to $82.66 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 0.3% to $78.94 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 3 basis points to 2.457% from 2.427%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1.2 basis points to 3.883% from 3.871% Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined 0.1%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 4.1%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 2.1%.
