In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.4% in morning trading. Inchcape rose 11.3% and SEB added 7.8%. On the other hand, Teleperformance slipped 11%, and St. James’s Place dropped 9.8%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.3% and Germany’s DAX was flat.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.3% to 95.4.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.8% to $83.20 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 1% to $79.55 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 1.9 basis points to 2.466% from 2.486%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 0.8 basis points to 3.857% from 3.865% Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 0.7%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 1.4%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.2%.
