US Futures, European Stocks Down

In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 fell 0.6% in morning trading. United Internet added 3.9% and Teleperformance rose 3.6%. On the other hand, Infineon Technologies dropped 8.9%, and Tenaris lost 5%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.9%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France’s CAC 40 declined 0.8% and Germany’s DAX fell 0.8%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 97.28.

In commodities, Brent crude fell 0.3% to $82.93 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.3% to $79.24 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 3.7 basis points to 2.572% from 2.535%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 6 basis points to 4.148% from 4.088% Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 1.7%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 0.2%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.6%.
