In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.3%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the UK market was closed. Other stocks in Europe were up. France’s CAC 40 increased 0.9% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.7%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.1% to 98.6.
The German 10-year Bund yield was flat at 2.565%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 1 basis point to 4.225% from 4.234%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 1.7%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 1.1%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 1.1%.
