Trade Balance Has Deficit Of $65 Billion In July

The US trade balance registered a deficit of $65.0 billion in July, after showing a deficit of $63.7 billion in June, according to the country’s Department of Commerce. Analysts had expected a $63.8 billion deficit in July.

Exports totaled $251.6 billion in July, which represents an increase of 1.5% in relation to June and a drop of 3.4% compared to July of last year. Imports reached $316.6 billion, an increase of 1.6% in monthly terms and 4.7% in annual terms.

The US trade deficit with China – which has the largest volume of trade with the United States – was $25.440 billion in July, which represents a high of 5.5% compared to June and a low of 25, 5% compared to July 2022.

The deficit with the countries of the European Union (EU) added up to $19.653 billion, growth of 2.6% in monthly terms and growth of 33.8% on an annual basis. In relation to Brazil, the United States had a surplus of $261 million, a drop of 36.6% compared to June and 83.3% less than the surplus of $1.567 billion in July 2022.
