US Futures, European Stocks Slip

In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 fell 0.6% in morning trading. SalMar climbed 3.5% and InPost rose 3.1%. On the other hand, Idorsia lost 7.5%, and Vestas Wind Systems dropped 4.3%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.7%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France’s CAC 40 declined 0.8% and Germany’s DAX dropped 0.4%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.1% to 99.15.

In commodities, Brent crude dropped 0.3% to $89.76 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.3% to $86.43 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 3 basis points to 2.642% from 2.613%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.266% from 4.259%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 0.6%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 0.4%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 0.1%.
