U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.1% in morning trading. Powszechny Zaklad Ubez rose 3.8% and Nemetschek added 3.7%. On the other hand, Nordic Semiconductor dropped 11.2%, and Lonza Group slipped 9.7%. The FTSE 100 added 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.2% and Germany’s DAX rose 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index rose 0.1% to 100.42.
In commodities, Brent crude climbed 0.2% to $89.79 a barrel, and WTI crude was flat at $86.69 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 2 basis points to 2.812% from 2.789%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 5 basis points to 4.758% from 4.712%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index climbed 1.2%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 0.8%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.3%.
