U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 declined 0.8% in morning trading. Telia added 7.6% and EQT rose 7.5%. On the other hand, Uniper lost 27.4%, and Rightmove fell 13%. The FTSE 100 lost 1%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France’s CAC 40 decreased 1% and Germany’s DAX dropped 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 100.71.
In commodities, Brent crude dropped 0.5% to $91.05 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.1% to $88.25 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 2 basis points to 2.947% from 2.93%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 5 basis points to 4.955% from 4.902%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were down as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined 1.9%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 2.2%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 1.7%.
