U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.4% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.3%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.5% in morning trading. Orpea added 8.2% and Phoenix Group Holdings rose 7.3%. On the other hand, Samhaellsbyggnadsbolaget slipped 4.1%, and Sinch dropped 3.2%. The FTSE 100 added 0.4%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.3% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 100.24.
In commodities, Brent crude fell 1% to $80.60 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 1% to $76.40 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 1 basis point to 2.732% from 2.719%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.655% from 4.645%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 0.1%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 1.3%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 0.2%.
