U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 dropped 0.1% in morning trading. alstria office REIT rose 7.9% and Rolls-Royce Holdings added 3.6%. On the other hand, Orpea lost 5.5%, and Viaplay Group Series B sunk 4%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 decreased 0.1% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.1%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index rose 0.2% to 97.74.
In commodities, Brent crude fell 0.8% to $78.22 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.8% to $73.46 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 2 basis points to 2.378% from 2.36%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 6 basis points to 4.257% from 4.2%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were down as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 0.6%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 1.1%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.3%.
