U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.1% in morning trading. Viaplay Group Series B added 15.3% and J Sainsbury climbed 3.1%. On the other hand, Anglo American dropped 6%, and Siemens Energy slipped 4.3%. The FTSE 100 added 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.3% and Germany’s DAX rose 0.1%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index rose 0.1% to 97.88.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 2% to $75.50 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 1.9% to $70.69 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 2 basis points to 2.221% from 2.197%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 1 basis point to 4.171% from 4.156%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined 1.7%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 0.1%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 0.1%.
