U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.9% in morning trading. Viaplay Group Series B rose 5.6% and Ambu Series B rose 5%. On the other hand, Burberry Group dropped 9.5%, and Grifols lost 6.1%. The FTSE 100 added 0.9%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.8% and Germany’s DAX climbed 1%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.1% to 96.78.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 2.4% to $79.30 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 2.6% to $73.88 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 1 basis point to 2.206% from 2.206% and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury was flat at 3.97%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 1.5%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 0.4%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.2%.
