Job openings in the United States stood at 8.9 million in January, little changed from the previous month, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Wednesday. The job opening rate was unchanged at 5.3%.
The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) showed that the number and rate of hires were little changed at 5.7 million and 3.6%, respectively.
The number of hires and total separations were little changed in January at 5.7 million and 5.3 million, respectively. Quits stood at 3.4 million, while layoffs and discharges were little changed compared to December at 1.6 million.
