Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is set to pause manufacturing of its Cybertruck and Model Y models at the Austin factory for one week starting June 30, with production expected to resume the following week.
According to a recent report from Business Insider, the automaker informed employees during a meeting earlier this month about the planned shutdown. This will be the third production interruption at the Austin facility in the past year.
Tesla explained to staff that the temporary halt is intended to allow maintenance and upgrades on the production lines. While the company indicated these improvements aim to boost manufacturing capacity, it did not disclose which specific vehicle lines might benefit from increased output afterward.
During the downtime, workers will have the choice to either take paid time off or participate voluntarily in training sessions and facility cleaning activities at the plant.
