Lucid to Introduce Hands-Free Driving Features via Upcoming Software Update

Lucid Group Inc. (NASDAQ:LCID) plans to roll out hands-free driving functionality for its electric vehicles through a software update set for July 30 for Lucid Air owners, with a later release scheduled for Lucid Gravity models.

The upgrade to the DreamDrive Pro package will bring Hands-Free Drive Assist and Hands-Free Lane Change Assist capabilities designed for use on compatible divided highways. Notably, the lane change assist requires the driver to activate the turn signal.

DreamDrive Pro is an optional system that integrates data from 32 sensors, including LiDAR, radar, visible-light cameras, surround-view cameras, and ultrasonic sensors.

“With our in-house software stack, a comprehensive suite of 32 sensors, and regular OTA updates, we have a roadmap to continue to deliver significantly more functionality to our owners in the future,” said Kai Stepper, Vice President of ADAS and AD at Lucid.

These features are intended to support, not replace, attentive driving; drivers must remain vigilant at all times. System performance can vary depending on visibility, weather, and road conditions. The vehicle will provide alerts to inform drivers when hands-free driving is available on compatible routes.

Lucid manufactures its EVs in Arizona and continues to invest heavily in advancing its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and autonomous driving technologies.
