Coinbase Shares Rise After JPMorgan Partnership to Expand Crypto Access

Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) stock rose 1.5% after the crypto exchange announced a strategic collaboration with JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM) aimed at making digital asset access easier for mainstream bank users.

The partnership introduces new tools that allow Chase customers to connect their bank accounts directly to Coinbase wallets through JPMorgan’s secure API. This bank-to-wallet integration will streamline crypto funding and marks a notable shift in how traditional financial institutions are approaching digital assets.

Another feature of the partnership is the ability for Chase cardholders to convert their Ultimate Rewards points into crypto funds. Customers will be able to transfer points at a 1:1 ratio, with 100 points equaling $1.00 in value deposited into a Coinbase account. It’s the first time a major credit card rewards program offers direct crypto wallet funding.

Beginning in Fall 2025, Chase credit card users will also be able to directly fund Coinbase accounts, adding another layer of integration between traditional banking and crypto platforms. The full rollout of the new features is expected in 2026.

“This partnership marks a significant step forward in empowering our customers to take control of their financial futures,” said Melissa Feldsher, Head of Payments and Lending Innovation at JPMorgan Chase, who also underscored the privacy and security benefits of the setup.

Max Branzburg, Coinbase’s Head of Consumer & Business Products, emphasized the broader mission: “Expand choice and lower barriers to entry for consumers to participate in the future of financial services onchain.”

This alliance reflects a significant evolution in JPMorgan’s approach to cryptocurrency, suggesting it may now view crypto more as an integrated part of banking rather than a separate or speculative asset class. For Coinbase, the partnership could help open crypto access to millions of Chase customers, accelerating adoption in the U.S. market.
