Fortive Shares Climb Nearly 3% After Q2 Earnings Hit Top of Guidance Range

Fortive Corporation (NYSE:FTV) saw its stock rise 2.95% in pre-market trading Wednesday, after the company posted second-quarter results that came in at the upper end of its guidance, even amid ongoing concerns around global trade and healthcare spending.

The industrial technology firm reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.58, slightly below the $0.59 consensus but still within its projected range. Revenue totaled $1.02 billion, in line with Wall Street expectations, although it reflected a year-over-year decline of 0.4%, with core revenue slipping 0.7%.

“Despite uncertainty related to trade, healthcare and government spending policy impacting demand in the second quarter, we delivered strong earnings and free cash flow, reflecting the strength of our market-leading operating brands and the power of the Fortive Business System,” said Olumide Soroye, President and CEO of Fortive.

The quarter was a notable one for Fortive, as it finalized the spin-off of its Precision Technologies unit, which now operates as an independent entity named Ralliant.

Within Fortive’s remaining business segments, Intelligent Operating Solutions delivered flat revenue of $697 million, with a core revenue decline of 0.2%, while Advanced Healthcare Solutions experienced a 1.3% drop in revenue to $320 million.

Adjusted EBITDA margin from continuing operations came in at 28.4%, just below the 28.6% recorded in the same period a year earlier. The company also generated $180 million in free cash flow, representing a 9.1% decrease year-over-year.

Looking ahead, Fortive reiterated its full-year 2025 outlook, guiding for adjusted EPS between $2.50 and $2.60, in line with the $2.54 consensus estimate.

“The third quarter marks the beginning of our new chapter, and we are moving the pieces into place to drive accelerated growth,” Soroye added. “Our new leadership team is focused on executing our Fortive Accelerated strategy, including our disciplined capital allocation approach and focus on building investor trust.”
