National Vision exceeds Q2 expectations and raises full-year forecast

National Vision Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:EYE) reported second-quarter earnings on Wednesday that beat analyst projections, driven by successful transformation efforts that fueled growth in comparable store sales and enhanced profitability.

The eyewear retailer posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.18 for the quarter ending June 28, surpassing the $0.13 expected by analysts.

Revenue rose 7.7% to $486.4 million, outperforming the consensus estimate of $469.2 million. Comparable store sales increased 6.5%, marking the company’s tenth consecutive quarter of positive growth.

Strong performance was supported by higher average transaction values and continued strength in the managed care segment, despite a slight dip in customer foot traffic.

Strategic improvements to product mix and pricing structure contributed to margin expansion, with adjusted operating income jumping 69.1% to $23.8 million.

“Our strong performance this quarter reflects the continued successful execution of our transformation program and the dedicated efforts of our entire National Vision team,” said CEO Alex Wilkes.

“The implementation of our lifestyle selling approach, combined with strategic refinements to our assortment and pricing architecture, has supported solid positive comparable sales growth across our brands.”

Gross margin improved by 170 basis points to 58.8%, driven by effective pricing and product mix strategies and better management of optometrist-related expenses.

Following the robust results, National Vision raised its full-year 2025 guidance. The company now anticipates adjusted comparable store sales growth between 3.0% and 5.0%, up from the previous range of 1.5% to 3.5%.

Revenue guidance was also lifted to $1.93 billion–$1.97 billion from $1.92 billion–$1.96 billion, and adjusted EPS forecast was raised to $0.62–$0.70 from $0.59–$0.67.

At the end of the quarter, National Vision operated 1,240 stores, reflecting a 2.0% increase year-over-year. The company plans to open around 32 new locations in fiscal 2025.
