Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to roll out a new AI-driven web search feature for Siri, internally referred to as “World Knowledge Answers,” in spring 2026, according to a Bloomberg report.
The feature, which may leverage a customized version of Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Gemini model, is designed to enable Siri to provide richer, more conversational responses, approaching ChatGPT-style functionality. Analysts expect the capability to eventually extend beyond Siri to both Safari and Spotlight.
Bank of America (BofA) analysts argue that Google continues to be Apple’s most logical partner as generative AI reshapes search into a multimodal assistant. Voice search, in particular, could become the next frontier, embedding AI agents more seamlessly into daily routines.
“Google already benefits from its distribution on iOS, and a potential deal would extend Gemini’s reach across Apple devices, ‘potentially driving billions of additional queries as AI capabilities grow the market,’” BofA analyst Justin Post said in a note.
“Google remains the most logical partner for Apple, as Alphabet’s superior ad monetization capabilities are likely to maximize revenue from the integration, making the partnership strategically attractive for both sides,” he added.
Such an agreement would also serve as a strong endorsement of Google’s AI progress against other high-profile competitors. Analysts note that it would showcase Google’s ability to modularize its Gemini models for third-party applications, spanning search, messaging, and system-level assistants.
“If embedded in Safari and Spotlight, Gemini would further entrench Google in Apple’s ecosystem, reinforcing its competitive and distribution moat,” Post continued.
The analyst also highlighted regulatory considerations. He noted that uncertainty surrounding the recent search remedy ruling had constrained Google’s capacity to sign new distribution agreements. With the court permitting non-exclusive traffic acquisition cost deals, Google “will be more active with deals to drive Gemini adoption.”
Broader integration of Gemini across Google’s own products could open additional monetization opportunities while alleviating investor concerns over intensifying AI competition and potentially boosting the company’s valuation multiple.
