Shares of Mixed Martial Arts Group Limited (AMEX:MMA) soared 200% after the company announced that Donald Trump Jr. has been appointed as a Strategic Advisor.
MMA.INC, the combat sports technology firm, said Trump Jr. will work with its board and management, focusing on expanding the brand’s global visibility and driving the rollout of its sports platforms, training programs, fan engagement tools, and commercialization strategy.
The appointment comes during a period of rapid growth for MMA.INC, which counts Conor McGregor—one of the most recognizable figures in combat sports—as its leading investor. McGregor’s financial backing and involvement highlight his commitment to the company’s mission of engaging the estimated 640 million MMA fans worldwide more directly in the sport.
“The incredible success of the UFC has proven just how powerful mixed martial arts has become, building one of the largest global fanbases in all of sport,” said Trump Jr. in the announcement. “I am deeply passionate about supporting small business owners to thrive and am eager to help MMA.INC connect these businesses with fans who want to learn, train, and push themselves to be their best.”
McGregor also welcomed the news: “Don is a globally recognized business leader with a deep passion for martial arts and for the coaches and small business owners who are the backbone of this sport.”
Founder and CEO Nick Langton described Trump Jr.’s addition as “another incredible milestone” for the company’s leadership team.
