Meta Platforms’ (NASDAQ:META) artificial intelligence system, Llama, has received authorization for use by U.S. government agencies, as the Trump administration continues efforts to adopt commercial AI solutions within federal operations.
The General Services Administration (GSA), responsible for managing government procurement, will add Llama to its roster of approved AI tools for federal use, according to Josh Gruenbaum, the GSA’s lead for procurement.
Federal agencies will have the opportunity to test Llama at no cost, with GSA confirming that the system complies with required security and legal standards.
Addressing questions about whether tech executives are offering discounts to secure presidential approval, Gruenbaum said, “It’s not about currying favor. It’s about that recognition of how do we all lock in arms and make this country the best country it could possibly be.”
Gruenbaum added that government departments can employ Llama for a range of applications, from accelerating contract reviews to swiftly addressing IT issues.
