Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has unveiled plans to build a $4 billion data center in Arkansas, marking its first facility in the state and representing one of the largest tech investments in the region.
The new campus will occupy more than 1,000 acres in West Memphis and will be powered by Entergy Arkansas, according to the company.
The project is expected to generate hundreds of permanent operations positions and thousands of construction-related jobs, providing a substantial economic lift to the local community.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders emphasized the project’s impact, describing it as “one of the largest investments ever made in the region.”
Alongside the data center, Google announced a $25 million Energy Impact Fund to advance energy initiatives in Crittenden County and nearby areas. The fund will focus on programs such as home weatherization, the adoption of innovative energy efficiency technologies, and workforce development in the energy sector.
