Rekor Systems Inc (NASDAQ:REKR) soared 9.1% in premarket trading on Thursday after announcing that two of the largest transportation agencies in the U.S. — California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) — have started deploying its Discover platform.
The initial installations mark a major step toward potential statewide rollouts in both California and Texas. This expansion comes shortly after Rekor secured its largest state contract to date with Georgia Department of Transportation, an agreement valued at more than $100 million over its lifetime. That deal underscores the success of Rekor’s Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) model, refined through a decade-long partnership with Georgia.
“Caltrans and TxDOT are two of the most influential DOTs in the country,” said Mark Phillips, General Manager at Rekor. “Their experience with Rekor Discover should provide a clear path to expand, from initial deployment to statewide programs.”
Rekor Discover delivers traffic counts, vehicle classification, and weigh-in-motion data, along with operational, planning, and safety insights — all offered as a managed service. Its non-intrusive data collection technology is designed to be scalable, reliable, and compliant with federal reporting standards.
With transportation agencies increasingly looking to modernize their traffic monitoring infrastructure, Rekor’s solutions are gaining momentum as a way to enhance roadway safety, support infrastructure planning, and secure accurate, trusted data for daily operations.
