Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, said Monday that trade negotiations with the United States will continue for “a few more weeks” after a weekend phone conversation with Donald Trump.
During her daily morning press briefing, Sheinbaum explained that she spoke with the U.S. president on Saturday to discuss unresolved trade matters between the two countries.
The Mexican leader noted that both governments require additional time to work through 54 remaining trade barriers involving key areas such as trade, energy, and agriculture — all issues where Washington has made specific demands.
“We will give it a few more weeks,” Sheinbaum said, referring to the extended timeline for resolving the outstanding trade disputes.
