Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) has officially released a dedicated WhatsApp app for Apple Watch, giving users the ability to manage conversations and calls without needing to access their iPhone.
The new app includes several core features such as call notifications, allowing users to see who is calling directly on their watch, and the ability to read full message threads on the device.
Apple Watch users can now compose and send messages, record and share voice notes, and react to messages with emojis — all directly from their wrist.
The app also enhances the display of media, providing clearer images, stickers, and extended chat history visibility for a more seamless experience.
Meta emphasized that personal messages and calls on the Apple Watch app will remain fully protected with end-to-end encryption, consistent with WhatsApp’s long-standing privacy commitment.
The new WhatsApp app is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and later running watchOS 10 or newer.
Meta said this launch represents “just the beginning” of its efforts to improve the smartwatch experience, adding that future updates will be driven by user feedback and feature requests.
