Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is preparing to significantly expand its nationwide delivery infrastructure and wind down its long-running partnership with the U.S. Postal Service, according to a report from The Washington Post on Thursday.
The article, citing three individuals familiar with Amazon’s plans, suggests the company is moving closer to bringing an even larger share of its delivery operations in-house.
Amazon has been steadily developing its own logistics ecosystem for years, rolling out a growing fleet of branded vans, contracting independent delivery drivers, and scaling its internal fulfillment capabilities.
