Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE:ACHR) shares rose 6.3% on Thursday after the company revealed a new partnership with NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) to embed advanced artificial intelligence computing into its aircraft systems.
The electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) developer announced at CES 2026 that it plans to adopt NVIDIA’s IGX Thor platform as the foundation for next-generation AI capabilities in aviation. The technology is intended to support higher pilot safety standards, smoother integration into controlled airspace, and the development of autonomy-ready flight control systems.
Archer said it has been collaborating with NVIDIA since early 2025 and will demonstrate the AI integration at its recently acquired Hawthorne airport facility in Los Angeles. The site is expected to become both the operating base for Archer’s future Los Angeles air taxi services and a testing center for its AI-enabled aviation technologies.
“CES has always been a launchpad for technologies that reshape industries, so we’re proud to announce our AI collaboration with NVIDIA here,” said Adam Goldstein, Archer’s Founder and CEO. “NVIDIA’s AI compute capabilities and software stack give us the foundation to accelerate toward safer, smarter aircraft systems and modernize how aviation interfaces with the world’s airspace.”
The IGX Thor platform is built for safety-critical applications, enabling advanced perception, decision-making, and predictive capabilities. Archer noted that integration work is already underway, with plans to extend the use of the platform beyond aircraft development into manufacturing processes, fleet operations, and pilot training programs.
