Simply Good Foods Company (NASDAQ:SMPL) said it has named Joe Scalzo as president and chief executive officer with immediate effect. Scalzo returns to the helm of the nutritional snacking group after previously serving as CEO until July 2023 and later as executive vice chairman through August 2024.
He replaces Geoff Tanner in the top role. The company said Scalzo will join its board of directors on January 28, 2026, following the annual meeting of stockholders.
During his earlier tenure, Scalzo guided Simply Good Foods through its public listing in 2017 and led the acquisition and integration of Quest Nutrition. He spent around a decade in senior leadership roles at Simply Good Foods and its predecessor, Atkins Nutritionals.
“Joe is a visionary in our industry widely admired by our team and partners alike for his role as the key architect of the business over the course of the last decade,” said James Kilts, chairman of the board.
Scalzo said he was “energized to be returning home to Simply Good Foods at this critical moment” and voiced confidence in the company’s platform and growth opportunities within the nutritional snacking market.
The Denver-based company also confirmed that its fiscal 2026 outlook remains unchanged from the guidance issued on January 8, 2026. Simply Good Foods markets brands including Quest, Atkins and OWYN, with a portfolio spanning protein bars, shakes and low-sugar snack products.
