Turkey set to formalise joint exploration agreement with Chevron

Turkey is preparing to sign a joint oil and gas exploration agreement with Chevron (NYSE:CVX) next month, according to the country’s energy minister.

Speaking in an interview with broadcaster APara, Alparslan Bayraktar said that “these agreements with international companies will continue,” underlining Turkey’s strategy of deepening cooperation with global energy groups.

Bayraktar added that, once the agreement is completed, the government hopes to make an announcement on a specific exploration project later in 2026.

The planned deal forms part of Turkey’s broader push to expand domestic energy exploration and production by partnering with major international oil and gas companies, as it looks to strengthen energy security and reduce reliance on imports.
