New York Times Company (NYSE:NYT) shares climbed as much as 3.3% in premarket trading Wednesday after Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.B) disclosed it had initiated a stake in the publisher.
According to a regulatory filing released Tuesday, Berkshire purchased approximately 5.1 million shares of the media group during the fourth quarter of 2025. The holding was valued at $351.7 million as of the end of December.
The move forms part of broader portfolio adjustments by Berkshire, which also trimmed its exposure to Amazon during the same period.
