Private sector hiring in the United States grew more strongly than expected in February, according to a report released Wednesday by payroll processing firm ADP.
ADP said employers added 63,000 jobs during the month, following an increase of 11,000 jobs in January after the previous estimate for that month was revised downward.
Economists had forecast an increase of about 48,000 private-sector jobs, compared with the initially reported gain of 22,000 in January.
The February reading marks the largest rise in private payrolls since July 2025, with the strongest job gains coming from the construction sector and the education and health services industries, ADP said.
