Beyond Meat Inc. (NASDAQ:BYND) said that over 20 items across its product lineup have now received Clean Label Project Certification, a recognition granted after independent testing for environmental contaminants and potentially harmful substances.
Among the newly certified products are Beyond Steak Filet, Beyond Ground Original and the company’s Beyond Immerse ready-to-drink protein beverages in Peach Mango, Orange Tangerine and Lemon Lime flavors. According to the company, the protein drinks are the first ready-to-drink protein beverages to obtain this certification.
Clean Label Project Certification is awarded to products that meet strict standards for purity and safety based on third-party testing. Items are screened for environmental contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, plasticizers and other toxins, with results evaluated against health-focused benchmarks that go beyond basic regulatory thresholds.
“Third-party certifications like Clean Label Project validate the standards we hold ourselves to every day as we deliver the power of plants to the consumer,” said Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat.
Beyond Meat noted that it was the first company to secure Clean Label Project Certification for plant-based meat alternatives, including Beyond Burger, Beyond Beef, Beyond Steak and Beyond Chicken Pieces.
The Clean Label Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting transparency and consumer health through independent testing for environmental contaminants and public awareness initiatives.
