Ford Motor (NYSE:F) is recalling more than 420,000 vehicles across the United States due to a potential defect that could cause windshield wipers to stop working, according to a notice issued Tuesday by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall affects 422,613 vehicles, including certain Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition sport utility vehicles, as well as some models of Ford’s F-Series pickup trucks.
According to the NHTSA, the issue involves windshield wiper arms that may break during operation. If the arms fail, the wipers could stop functioning, potentially reducing driver visibility in rainy or snowy conditions and increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the windshield wiper arms if necessary, the agency said.
