SemiLEDs Corporation (NASDAQ:LEDS) reported a sharp drop in fiscal second-quarter revenue, down 58% from the previous quarter, largely due to weaker demand for equipment.
The U.S.-based LED chip manufacturer generated $1.06 million in revenue during the period. Net loss narrowed to $603,000 from $742,000 in the prior quarter, with earnings per share reported at negative $0.07.
Gross profit stood at $6,000, while gross margin remained unchanged at 1% for the quarter. Operating expenses totaled $851,000, leading to an operating loss of $845,000. The pretax loss was in line with the net loss at $603,000.
The company attributed the revenue decline to a lack of buy-sell equipment orders during the quarter.
Looking ahead, SemiLEDs expects such orders to resume in the second half of fiscal 2026.
