Clear Secure shares rise after Samsung digital ID partnership announcement (YOU)

Shares of Clear Secure (NYSE:YOU) gained 2.4% in premarket trading on Tuesday after the company unveiled a partnership with Samsung Electronics America to introduce Samsung ID with CLEAR.

Partnership integrates CLEAR identity verification into Samsung Wallet

The collaboration brings CLEAR’s identity verification technology into Samsung Wallet, enabling U.S. passport holders to create and store a TSA-approved digital identification credential directly on their smartphones.

The digital ID can be used at more than 250 Transportation Security Administration checkpoints across the United States, allowing travelers to verify their identity without presenting physical identification documents.

Digital ID backed by passport verification

Samsung ID with CLEAR uses information from U.S. passports, which is authenticated through CLEAR’s identity verification platform.

In addition to domestic air travel, the digital ID can also be used for age verification at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, with the companies planning to expand the service to additional sports venues in the future.

“CLEAR’s secure identity verification platform makes experiences safer and easier – both physically and digitally,” said Caryn Seidman Becker, CEO of CLEAR. “Now with CLEAR’s secure identity platform embedded in Samsung Wallet, verifying your identity is easier than ever.”

Service offered free to Samsung Wallet users

The companies said Samsung ID with CLEAR will be available at no cost for Samsung Wallet users.

Travelers will be able to present their digital ID through either a tap or QR code scan at participating TSA checkpoints.

Samsung Wallet functions as a centralized platform for storing payment cards, digital identification, event passes and digital keys.

Platform designed for broader government and travel applications

The integration is designed to support passport-based verification, travel credentials, age checks and other government-related use cases.

Users with valid U.S. passports can activate Samsung ID with CLEAR directly within the Samsung Wallet application by accessing the Quick Access feature and completing the verification process.
