Guardian Metal Resources (AMEX:GMTL) (USOTC:GMTLF) (LSE:GMET) has identified a previously unrecognised tungsten-bearing zone at its wholly owned Pilot Mountain project in Nevada, adding a new area of mineralisation outside the project’s existing resource base.
The newly named Tremor Zone was encountered during condemnation drilling carried out to support infrastructure planning for Pilot Mountain’s ongoing pre-feasibility study. Initial results from drill hole PMR26-077 returned multiple tungsten intersections, including 13.68 metres grading 0.31% WO₃ from a relatively shallow depth.
Subsequent drilling has provided further evidence that the discovery may represent a significant addition to the project. Visual logging from several follow-up holes has confirmed the presence of tungsten-rich skarn mineralisation across an area extending roughly 400 metres along strike. Exploration remains at an early stage, with the zone still open in several directions and requiring additional drilling to determine its full extent.
Although the Tremor Zone will not be included in the current pre-feasibility study due to the timing of the discovery, management believes the results highlight the untapped exploration potential across the broader Pilot Mountain property. The fact that the mineralisation lies within a royalty-free section of the project could further enhance its long-term economic significance.
The discovery comes as demand for secure domestic supplies of critical minerals continues to grow in the United States. Guardian Metal is positioning Pilot Mountain as a strategic source of tungsten, a metal widely used in defence, aerospace and industrial applications. The company believes the emergence of the Tremor Zone strengthens the project’s potential role in supporting U.S. supply-chain security.
Financially, the company continues to operate in a development phase, with limited revenue generation and ongoing losses affecting near-term performance. Free cash flow has also remained under pressure, although Guardian Metal benefits from a debt-free balance sheet. Market indicators offer a mixed picture, with the shares trading above key long-term moving averages despite weaker momentum signals.
