Oklo and Centrus Advance Ohio Nuclear Project With Fuel Supply Agreement (OKLO)

Oklo Inc. (NYSE:OKLO) and Centrus Energy Corp. (AMEX:LEU) have taken a significant step toward supporting next-generation nuclear energy deployment in Ohio after signing a Letter of Intent covering the supply of high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) for Oklo’s planned Aurora reactors.

The agreement strengthens the fuel supply chain for advanced nuclear technology while supporting broader efforts to expand domestic uranium enrichment and clean energy infrastructure in the United States.

Centrus to Supply Fuel for Aurora Reactors

Under the proposed arrangement, Centrus will provide HALEU fuel for up to five Aurora powerhouses over multiple years.

Fuel deliveries are expected to begin in 2029 and will be sourced from Centrus’s American Centrifuge Plant in Pike County, Ohio.

The fuel is intended to support Oklo’s planned 1.2-gigawatt energy campus in southern Ohio, a project designed to expand the deployment of advanced nuclear power in the region.

The companies noted that the agreement remains subject to further negotiations and the execution of a definitive contract.

Agreement Could Include Advance Funding

As part of the framework under discussion, Oklo may provide prepayments to Centrus to support future fuel production.

Such an arrangement could help strengthen supply certainty as demand for HALEU continues to grow across the advanced nuclear sector.

The fuel type is considered critical for a range of next-generation reactor designs currently under development in the United States.

Oklo Expands Construction Planning Efforts

In a separate announcement, Oklo disclosed that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Co.

The agreement is intended to support engineering, procurement and construction planning for the initial Aurora powerhouse deployments in Ohio.

The collaboration represents another milestone as Oklo moves from development toward execution of its nuclear energy strategy.

Federal Support Helps Strengthen Fuel Supply

Centrus said it plans to utilize its previously announced $900 million HALEU task order from the U.S. Department of Energy, alongside additional private-sector funding, to help support fuel production requirements.

The company views the expansion of domestic uranium enrichment capacity as a key component of strengthening the U.S. nuclear energy supply chain.

Executives Highlight Strategic Importance

Commenting on the announcement, Oklo co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Jacob DeWitte said the partnership brings together several critical elements required for advanced nuclear deployment.

“This agreement aligns core elements of advanced nuclear deployment: power generation, fuel, and customer demand,” said Oklo co-founder and CEO Jacob DeWitte.

Centrus President and Chief Executive Officer Amir Vexler emphasized the broader significance of the arrangement for the U.S. nuclear industry.

The announcement “represents a crucial milestone as we work to restore America’s ability to enrich uranium at scale,” Vexler said.

Project Expected to Create Significant Employment

Oklo estimates that construction of the Ohio power campus will require more than 700 full-time construction workers over several years.

Each Aurora powerhouse is expected to create approximately 40 to 50 permanent positions, while every eight deployed reactors could support an additional 80 to 120 site-wide jobs.

Separately, Centrus’s expansion of its Piketon enrichment facility is projected to generate approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 300 permanent operational roles in Ohio.

Advanced Nuclear Momentum Continues to Build

The Letter of Intent marks another step in the growing effort to establish a domestic ecosystem for advanced nuclear energy, combining reactor deployment, fuel production and infrastructure development.

For both Oklo and Centrus, the agreement highlights increasing momentum behind advanced reactor projects as utilities, technology companies and policymakers seek reliable sources of carbon-free baseload power to meet rising electricity demand.
