Partnership Expands Collaboration on Commercial Aircraft Programme
3M (NYSE:MMM) has signed a long-term agreement with Airbus (EU:AIR) to provide thermal and acoustic insulation materials for the Airbus A220 aircraft programme.
The deal strengthens the existing relationship between the two companies and positions 3M as a key supplier of advanced insulation technologies for one of Airbus’s fastest-growing commercial aircraft platforms.
Insulation Solutions Designed to Improve Aircraft Performance
Under the agreement, 3M will supply specialised materials aimed at enhancing both operational efficiency and passenger comfort.
The thermal insulation products are intended to help regulate cabin temperatures and improve overall aircraft performance, while acoustic insulation systems will be installed throughout the cabin to minimise noise generated by engines and the airframe.
Focus on Passenger Comfort and Airline Efficiency
The insulation technologies are designed to create a quieter and more comfortable onboard environment while supporting airline operational requirements over the aircraft’s service life.
By reducing noise levels and improving thermal performance, the materials are expected to contribute to a better passenger experience and increased efficiency for operators.
