Evommune Shares Slide After Phase 2b CSU Trial Misses Main Goal (EVMN)

Evommune, Inc. (NYSE:EVMN) shares dropped 17% on Monday after the company announced that its Phase 2b study of EVO756 in chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) failed to achieve its primary efficacy endpoint.

The randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial enrolled 160 patients with moderate-to-severe antihistamine-refractory CSU across the United States, Europe, Canada and Japan. Participants received one of three dosing regimens of EVO756 or a placebo.

The study did not demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in the primary endpoint, which measured the mean change in the seven-day Urticaria Activity Score (UAS7) after 12 weeks of treatment at any of the doses evaluated.

CSU Programme Discontinued

Following the disappointing outcome, Evommune said it will discontinue development of EVO756 as a treatment for chronic spontaneous urticaria.

However, the company intends to continue advancing the oral MRGPRX2 antagonist in other therapeutic areas, including atopic dermatitis and migraine, where management believes the programme continues to show potential.

According to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Eugene Bauer, the Phase 2b study confirmed dosing levels that were safe and well tolerated, providing support for continued clinical development in additional indications.

Pipeline Development Continues

Evommune expects to report top-line Phase 2b results for EVO756 in atopic dermatitis during the third quarter of 2026.

The company has also begun screening participants for a Phase 2b trial evaluating EVO756 as a preventive treatment for migraine, with patient dosing expected to begin shortly.

Separately, Evommune recently announced positive Phase 2a proof-of-concept results for its IL-18BP fusion protein candidate EVO301 in atopic dermatitis and plans to advance that programme into a Phase 2b study.

The company added that its current cash resources are expected to fund operations through 2028.
