U.S. Air Force Selects Salesforce Platform to Oversee 84,000-Vehicle Fleet (CRM)

Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) has announced that the U.S. Air Force’s 441st Vehicle Support Chain Operations Squadron (VSCOS) is using its Missionforce National Security platform to manage a vehicle fleet valued at $13.5 billion, covering more than 84,000 vehicles across almost 389 locations worldwide.

New Platform Replaces Legacy Fleet Management System

The 85-member squadron, which provides support for more than 7,300 personnel, implemented the platform as a replacement for its retiring fleet management system.

The solution is hosted on Salesforce Government Cloud Plus Defense and operates with Impact Level 5 (IL5) authorization, the security standard required for certain sensitive U.S. government workloads.

According to Salesforce, the platform has brought together information from multiple enterprise resource planning systems into a single operating environment, giving users a more unified view of fleet operations.

Faster Asset Management and AI Development

Since deployment, the squadron has processed more than 51,000 vehicle asset movement requests through the platform.

Salesforce also said a new contingency planning application, known as MELRAT, has significantly improved operational efficiency by reducing the time needed to identify available vehicle inventory for emergency deployments from days to just minutes.

The Air Force is also evaluating artificial intelligence applications, including tools to automate manual data entry, verify vehicle identification numbers and analyse sensor information to anticipate maintenance requirements.

Kendall Collins, CEO of Missionforce and Government Cloud at Salesforce, said the platform has delivered “improved visibility for commanders, reduced service downtime, and helping ensure vehicles are ready to roll when the call comes.”

Government Contracts Expand Salesforce Presence

The latest deployment follows previously announced agreements between Salesforce and the U.S. military, including a $72 million enterprise licence contract with the Department of the Air Force and a separate $5.6 billion indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract with the U.S. Army.
