Enovix Strengthens Leadership With Operations Veteran
Enovix Corporation (NASDAQ:ENVX) shares surged 17.1% in pre-market trading on Thursday after the advanced battery developer announced the appointment of former Apple executive Dr. Michael Vyvoda as its new Chief Operating Officer.
Vyvoda will officially join the company on 29 July 2026, bringing more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing, operations and supply chain management. He will oversee Enovix’s global manufacturing, supply chain and operations engineering teams, reporting directly to President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Raj Talluri.
Former Apple Executive to Support Manufacturing Expansion
During his time at Apple, Vyvoda served as Director of Product Operations for Audio Products, where he played a key role in scaling AirPods manufacturing from initial product launch to high-volume production across multiple manufacturing sites in Asia.
His appointment comes as Enovix continues expanding production at its manufacturing facilities in Malaysia and South Korea to meet growing customer demand.
Production Momentum Continues
Enovix has recently reported improving operational performance.
In the first quarter of 2026, the company generated revenue of $7.6 million, representing a 49% year-over-year increase and exceeding the upper end of its guidance range. The quarter also marked Enovix’s sixth consecutive period of positive gross profit.
The company said its pipeline for battery products manufactured in South Korea has now expanded to more than $130 million.
Commercial production of Enovix’s silicon-anode batteries for smart eyewear has also begun after receiving its first production order for approximately 50,000 units. In addition, the company continues to advance smartphone qualification programs and recently introduced its MX-1 battery platform for drone and defence applications.
Extensive Industry Experience
Before joining Enovix, Vyvoda served as Chief Operating Officer at Magrathea Metals, where he led operations for the company’s electrolytic magnesium platform.
He also held the COO role at Aircapture, overseeing the commercialization of direct air capture technology, and previously occupied senior manufacturing positions at ThinFilm Electronics, GT Advanced Technologies, Twin Creeks Technologies, SanDisk and Matrix Semiconductor.
Vyvoda holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, along with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
