FuelCell Energy and Siemens Partner on Large-Scale Power Solutions
FuelCell Energy (NASDAQ:FCEL) shares jumped 11% on Thursday morning after the company announced a strategic collaboration with Siemens to develop scalable fuel cell power solutions for distributed energy projects.
The partnership has been formalized through a memorandum of understanding that combines Siemens’ electrical engineering expertise with FuelCell Energy’s fuel cell technology to accelerate the deployment of commercial energy systems.
Under the agreement, Siemens will design and supply electrical balance of plant systems for fuel cell installations, helping support the rollout of commercial projects exceeding 100 megawatts.
Collaboration Targets Faster Deployment
The companies plan to work together across project engineering, systems integration and delivery, focusing on distributed energy solutions that combine fuel cells, battery energy storage, microgrid controls and medium-voltage electrical infrastructure.
The partnership will assess opportunities to scale these technologies while improving deployment timelines, lowering project costs and expanding commercial adoption.
Expanding Fuel Cell Applications
FuelCell Energy develops, manufactures, operates and services fuel cell power plants used by data centres, industrial customers, utilities and other distributed generation operators.
Siemens will contribute its expertise in designing and integrating electrical balance of plant systems for fuel cell-based energy projects.
The collaboration will also include pilot programmes and technology development initiatives aimed at evaluating new applications for fuel cell systems, including medium-voltage DC power delivery and modular electrical solutions.
The companies said the agreement provides a framework for moving successful pilot projects into full-scale commercial deployment.
