Great Western Mining Advances Nevada Tungsten Project as U.S. Pushes to Secure Critical Mineral Supply Chains

As the United States accelerates efforts to secure domestic supplies of critical minerals, tungsten has become one of the commodities drawing increased attention from investors, policymakers and industry alike.

Used extensively in defence systems, aerospace, electronics, manufacturing and advanced industrial applications, tungsten has been designated as a strategic mineral, with Washington placing growing emphasis on reducing reliance on overseas supply.

Against this backdrop, Great Western Mining Corporation (USOTC:GWMOF)(LSE:GWMO)  is advancing its Defender Pine Crow Project in Nevada, where recent exploration results have strengthened the case for what could become a significant new U.S. tungsten development.

Speaking on The Watchlist, CEO Edward Loye said the company’s latest channel sampling programme has provided further evidence that Defender Pine Crow may host a district-scale tungsten system as Great Western prepares for its maiden drilling campaign.

Building on Nevada’s Mining Legacy

Nevada has long been recognised as one of the world’s premier mining jurisdictions, and historically produced tungsten during the Second World War when domestic supply was considered strategically important.

Great Western’s recent geological mapping and trenching have significantly improved understanding of the project, linking what were once believed to be isolated historical workings into a continuous mineralised corridor extending approximately 2 to 3 kilometres.

Surface sampling has returned broad intervals of tungsten mineralisation that compare favourably with other projects in the region. Because much of the mineralisation is exposed at surface, the project may also offer favourable development characteristics if exploration continues to deliver positive results.

The upcoming drill programme will now test the depth and continuity of the system.

Maiden Drill Programme Approaching

Years of geological mapping, gravity geophysics and trenching have enabled the company to define priority drill targets with increasing confidence.

Site preparations are underway, with drilling expected to begin in the coming weeks as Great Western targets delivery of its first Mineral Resource Estimate before year-end.

For investors, the drill campaign represents an important value-creation catalyst as the company seeks to demonstrate the scale of the mineralised system beneath surface.

Encouraging Signs for Future Economics

In addition to confirming widespread tungsten mineralisation, recent exploration has also highlighted several positive indicators for potential project economics.

The company reports:

  • Broad zones of tungsten mineralisation across multiple targets.
  • Low concentrations of penalty elements.
  • Silver credits that could enhance the overall value of future production.

Great Western has also begun early-stage metallurgical testing designed to confirm that conventional processing methods can efficiently recover the tungsten mineralisation.

Successful metallurgical results would represent another important step toward demonstrating the project’s long-term commercial potential.

Positioned for America’s Critical Minerals Strategy

The United States continues to prioritise the development of domestic critical mineral projects as part of broader efforts to strengthen supply chain resilience and national security.

Projects located within established mining jurisdictions such as Nevada are increasingly viewed as strategically valuable, particularly those capable of supplying materials essential for defence manufacturing and advanced technologies.

Edward Loye believes Defender Pine Crow is well positioned within this evolving landscape. While still in the exploration stage, the project shares geological characteristics with several advancing tungsten developments in the region and could ultimately contribute to strengthening U.S. domestic supply.

Looking Ahead

With drilling set to commence and a maiden resource targeted before the end of the year, Defender Pine Crow is entering an important phase of development.

As demand for domestically sourced critical minerals continues to grow, Great Western Mining offers investors exposure to a U.S.-based tungsten exploration story at a time when securing reliable domestic supplies has become an increasingly important national priority.

The coming months are expected to provide a steady stream of exploration results that could further define the scale and potential of one of Nevada’s emerging tungsten projects.
