K Wave Media Ltd. (NASDAQ:KWM) announced an overhaul of its senior leadership on Monday, naming Joongjae Lee as chairman and Richard Kim as co-chief executive officer alongside current CEO Ted Kim, with the appointments taking effect immediately.
The changes come as the company pursues acquisition opportunities across technology-focused industries and prepares to rebrand itself as NEXUS Advanced Technologies Inc.
Lee is also chief executive of Rabbit Walk Co., Ltd., a Korea-based artificial intelligence content producer in which K Wave Media acquired a majority stake during 2026.
Richard Kim brings around 30 years of experience spanning corporate finance and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, including transactions involving the semiconductor industry. His background also includes senior positions at businesses listed on South Korea’s KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets.
Co-CEO structure divides Korea and U.S. responsibilities
Under the revised management structure, Richard Kim will be based in Korea and take responsibility for business operations, corporate strategy and the execution of acquisitions.
Ted Kim will concentrate on capital formation and investor relations, alongside U.S. regulatory matters and activities associated with the company’s Nasdaq listing.
“Our acquisition strategy requires strong leadership in both Korea and the U.S.,” Lee said in a statement. “The Co-CEO structure allows one team to focus on sourcing and integrating acquisitions while the other focuses on capital markets, creating a stronger platform for execution.”
The structure is intended to support K Wave Media’s strategy of combining acquisition activity in Korea with access to U.S. capital markets.
K Wave Media evaluates AI and semiconductor acquisitions
The company said it is currently carrying out due diligence on several potential transactions across AI infrastructure, semiconductor components and advanced manufacturing.
These areas are expected to form an increasingly important part of the company’s strategy as management looks to expand its exposure to technology businesses through acquisitions.
The leadership appointments therefore come at a potentially important stage for K Wave Media as it evaluates opportunities that could reshape the company’s operating portfolio.
NEXUS Advanced Technologies rebrand moves forward
Shareholders have already approved a change of corporate name from K Wave Media Ltd. to NEXUS Advanced Technologies Inc.
Completion of the rebranding remains subject to customary filings with the Cayman Islands Registrar of Companies as well as notification to Nasdaq.
Following those steps, the company expects its shares to begin trading under the new ticker NASDAQ:NXAT on or around August 21, 2026.
The planned identity change follows a share consolidation completed earlier in August 2026 and accompanies the broader transformation of the business under its expanded leadership team.
