Intuitive Machines, Inc. (NASDAQ:LUNR) has received authorisation to proceed with a multi-satellite communications infrastructure programme expected to be worth more than $600 million.
The Houston-based space technology company did not identify the customer, with further details of the programme remaining confidential at the client’s request.
Under the agreement, Intuitive Machines will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, integrating and supporting multiple spacecraft built around its IM 1300™ satellite platform.
IM 1300 platform to underpin satellite programme
The contract represents a substantial spacecraft procurement for Intuitive Machines and expands the company’s involvement in communications infrastructure.
Its responsibilities will span multiple stages of the programme, from spacecraft design and production through integration and subsequent support.
“Winning this multi-satellite procurement is an important milestone for Intuitive Machines and reflects the confidence our customers place in our ability to deliver high-performance spacecraft for a broad range of mission needs,” said Steve Altemus, Chief Executive Officer of Intuitive Machines.
Intuitive Machines to support programme through mission delivery
Chris Johnson, President of Intuitive Machines Space Systems, said the programme encompasses the full process from initial design and manufacturing through to mission delivery.
The company will work closely with the unnamed customer throughout each phase as it develops and delivers the spacecraft required for the communications infrastructure programme.
The award strengthens Intuitive Machines’ position beyond its lunar activities and adds to its growing portfolio of spacecraft and space systems programmes.
Company expands across commercial and national security space
Intuitive Machines says it has built more than 300 spacecraft and operates across the commercial, civil and national security space markets.
The latest programme provides the company with a significant multi-satellite opportunity using its IM 1300™ platform and reinforces its strategy of providing spacecraft capabilities across a broader range of missions.
With an anticipated value exceeding $600 million, the procurement also represents a sizeable addition to Intuitive Machines’ commercial opportunity pipeline, although specific details regarding the customer, number of satellites and delivery schedule have not been disclosed.
