Core Natural Resources Expands President’s Responsibilities and Appoints New CFO

Core Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CNR) has reshaped its senior leadership structure, giving president Mitesh Thakkar greater responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operations while appointing Nathan Tucker as its new chief financial officer.

The changes take effect immediately, with Thakkar now overseeing Core’s principal operating functions, including operations, marketing, logistics and long-term strategy.

Nathan Tucker Steps Up as Chief Financial Officer

As part of the leadership transition, Core’s board elected Tucker as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Tucker has served as vice president of finance since Core Natural Resources was established in January 2025. Before the company’s formation, he was director of finance and investor relations at CONSOL Energy between 2020 and January 2025.

His promotion provides continuity within the finance function as Thakkar shifts his attention towards a broader range of operational and strategic responsibilities.

Thakkar Takes Greater Control of Daily Operations

Thakkar had previously served as both president and chief financial officer of Core Natural Resources since the company was created.

Before the merger that formed Core, he was senior vice president and CFO of CONSOL Energy, one of the company’s predecessors, beginning in 2020. Thakkar joined CONSOL in 2015 after previously working as an equity analyst at FBR Capital Markets, which is now part of B. Riley FBR, Inc.

“The board views Mitesh as the ideal person to lead Core’s day-to-day endeavors at this exciting time in the company’s development and growth,” said Jimmy Brock, Core’s chairman and CEO.

The expanded remit places Thakkar at the centre of Core’s operating strategy as management continues integrating and developing the enlarged business.

Core Continues Evolution Following 2025 Merger

Core Natural Resources was established in January 2025 through the merger of CONSOL Energy and Arch Resources.

Headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, the company is now adjusting its leadership structure as it moves beyond the initial combination of the two businesses and focuses on operational execution and longer-term growth.

The appointment of Tucker allows Thakkar to concentrate more heavily on operations, commercial activities, logistics and strategy while maintaining experienced leadership within Core’s finance team.
