U.S. labor productivity increased in the second quarter of 2026 at the same pace reported in the preliminary estimate, according to data released by the Labor Department on Thursday.
Labor productivity rose 1.4% during the quarter, unchanged from the previous estimate and in line with economists’ expectations.
The report showed that output increased 1.7%, while hours worked rose 0.3%. Both figures were unchanged from their preliminary estimates.
Unit Labor Cost Growth Revised to 1.2%
Unit labor costs increased 1.2% in the second quarter, revised down from the previously reported 1.3% increase.
Economists had expected the 1.3% reading to remain unchanged.
The downward revision reflected a corresponding adjustment to hourly compensation, which increased 2.6% during the quarter compared with the previously reported 2.7% rise.
The latest figures therefore left the second-quarter productivity estimate unchanged while showing slightly lower growth in labor costs and hourly compensation than initially reported.
