Teledyne e2v, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies (NYSE:TDY), has launched Nexora, a new family of backside-illuminated (BSI) global shutter CMOS image sensors designed for machine vision and imaging applications.
The product range includes 12-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors, available in both monochrome and colour versions.
The company is targeting applications including high-resolution machine vision, intelligent traffic systems and outdoor surveillance.
Nexora Offers 12 MP and 16 MP Resolutions
The Nexora family is available in two configurations: a 12 MP sensor with a resolution of 4,096 × 3,072 pixels and a 16 MP version offering 4,096 × 4,096 pixels.
Both models incorporate Teledyne e2v’s backside-illuminated pixel technology, which positions the photodiode closer to incoming light to improve light-collection efficiency.
According to the company, the design achieves quantum efficiency of up to 73% at a wavelength of 550 nanometres and 15% at 940 nanometres.
These specifications are intended to support imaging performance across different lighting conditions, including applications requiring sensitivity to near-infrared light.
3D-Stacked Architecture Supports Camera Integration
Nexora uses a 3D-stacked sensor architecture that combines multiple functions within a multilayer structure.
The sensors feature a low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) interface compatible with a range of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and image signal processors.
The devices are housed in a 23 × 21.5 mm package designed for integration into 29 × 29 mm² cameras using standard C-mount optics.
The combination of sensor architecture, interface compatibility and compact packaging is intended to simplify integration for camera manufacturers.

Samples Available Ahead of VISION 2026
Teledyne e2v said technical documentation and samples of the Nexora sensors are available upon request.
The company plans to showcase the new sensor family at the VISION trade show in Stuttgart, Germany, from 6 to 8 October 2026.
The event will provide an opportunity for camera manufacturers and industrial imaging developers to examine the new products and their potential applications.
