Autodesk Shares Rise Following Schneider Electric’s $22.6 Billion PTC Deal

Autodesk (NASDAQ:ADSK) shares rose 3.8% in pre-market trading after Schneider Electric announced an agreement to acquire PTC for $22.6 billion in cash.

Under the transaction, Schneider Electric will acquire PTC, a provider of industrial design and product lifecycle management software, at a 42.3% premium to its previous closing share price.

The acquisition is Schneider Electric’s largest to date and provides a transaction benchmark for the industrial and engineering software sector, where Autodesk also operates.

Autodesk Expands AI Capabilities Across Fusion Products

The share-price move follows several recent product developments at Autodesk, including the wider rollout of Autodesk Assistant across its Fusion product portfolio.

At Autodesk University 2026, the company announced that Autodesk Assistant was generally available across the suite, extending natural-language, agentic AI capabilities to products including Inventor, Moldflow and Vault.

Flex token access for AI-powered workflows is scheduled to begin on October 6.

Infrastructure consultancy Arcadis has also expanded its AI collaboration with Autodesk, covering the use of Autodesk technology in construction and data-led project delivery.

Recent Quarter Shows Revenue and Profit Growth

Autodesk’s pre-market advance came as the broader US equity market recorded smaller moves. The S&P 500 was up 0.1%, while the Nasdaq was broadly unchanged.

The Nasdaq reached a record intraday high on Friday.

Autodesk reported revenue growth of 16% in its most recent quarter, while net income increased 57%.

The Schneider Electric transaction for PTC has brought further attention to valuations in the engineering and industrial software sector, contributing to the pre-market move in Autodesk shares.
