Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ:CBRS) shares rose as much as 6.1% in pre-market trading on Monday after OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman commented on the company’s relationship with the artificial intelligence infrastructure provider.
Altman described Cerebras as “a close partner” of OpenAI and said the companies have “a deep engagement pushing on the frontiers of speed.”
His comments addressed recent speculation surrounding OpenAI’s partnership with Cerebras.
Barclays Says OpenAI Relationship Remains Strong
Barclays analyst Tom O’Malley said OpenAI’s “relationship remains strong” with Cerebras Systems.
O’Malley said Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) is currently running OpenAI’s GPT-6.1 Ultrafast, while Cerebras remains the preferred provider but faces supply limitations.
The Barclays analyst also said the recent decline in Cerebras shares was “overdone as highlighted by Sam Altman’s post.”
